Survey Crew Chief

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform construction stake-out for earthwork crews, pipe crews, roadway crews, and punch-out crews.
  • Collect as-built survey data for pipes, structures, roads, lots, sidewalks, lift stations, etc.
  • Perform topographic surveys.
  • Use survey equipment including GPS, data collectors, robotic total stations, and levels.
  • Use laptop for emails and data transmission.

 

  1. Manage survey crew on multiple projects. (schedule, scope, budget)
  2. Direct, control and supervise survey work and survey crew.
  3. Able to meet with project managers and clients to discuss progress and schedule.
  4. Review crew generated as-built data to ensure accuracy.
  5. Maintains good condition and adjustment of survey equipment.
  6. Evaluates and makes recommendations for new survey equipment.
  7. Quantity Takeoffs for Construction Estimation as required.

 

General Requirements:

  1. Minimum 3 years of Construction layout.
  2. Knowledge of Trimble, SCS 900 and Auto Cad
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  4. High level computer skills; must know Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
  5. Knowledge in Trimble, SCS900 and AutoCad required.
  6. High level strategy, analytical and planning skills.
  7. Knowledge of the construction and maintenance industry.
  8. Must be self-motivated and punctual to all appointments.
  9. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow up skills.
  10. Must be professional and polished in appearance and speech.

  1. Evaluate, recommend, develop and implement improved construction or service systems, policies, methods and procedures.
  2. Evaluate the performance and results of their crews.
  3. Train, lead and coach their crews as needed to improve productivity.
  4. Provide input and assistance to VP of Operations, Project Managers and other Superintendents.
  5. Continually improve personal technical, supervisory, personnel, and customer relations skills.
  6. All interactions with customers, owners, engineers, etc., whether it is in person or a telephone call, will be conducted with respect and in a professional manner.
  7. VP of Operations, Project Managers and other Superintendents will be notified of any issues that cannot be resolved, or deadlines that cannot be met within a reasonable time frame, and before the deadline has arrived.
  8. All proprietary company information will be held as strictly confidential outside the company.
  9. Perform all administrative requirements per process.
  10. General maintenance of company owned assigned tools or equipment.
